My daughter begged me for an entire year to sign her up for dance classes. So 3 years ago I registered her at the Bronx Dance Theatre. Im an still pleased. The instructors at the school definitely know what they are doing with the kids, they learn a lot every week and most importantly the kids always look like they had a blast after class. They put on two tremendous recitals at the end of the year. The school does an amazing job of showcasing all of the students. Most of all there prices are very affordable. If your child wants to dance, take them to the Bronx Dance Theatre ...read more

A school is a place where you send a child/student to learn. A place where each child is given an equal opportunity to learn and excel. A place where a desire to learn should be met with a desire to teach. A place where every child is given an opportunity to shine. However, it is called Bronx Dance Theatre and not Bronx Dance School. Good recitals. Classes are overcrowded and the teachers/staff can be rude at times towards both kids and parents. You have to be thick skinned and so does your child if you decide to have them attend this theatre. It's not for amateurs. :) ...read more

My daughter went to this school. The school has excellent recitals. They put on quite a show. The teachers are good but not excellent. Some are rather discouraging to students. Some are encouraging. They have recitals once a year. The ticket purchasing process is totally unorganized and will upset many a parent. You can stand online from 1:00 am or some come even earlier. Chairs are propped up around the door of the school and around the corner. Parents sit in their cars or prop up a chair and go home and come back later. The chair holds their place. Some parents actually stand on the line and wind up getting seats in the ""nosebleeds"" because the persons before them buy tickets for themselves and for all the other parents they are friendly with. There's no limits or rules to buying tickets and the owner cares not one bit to make any rules so that the process is fair. In the end, it's not worth it. My kid wasn't happy and neither was I. ...read more

My daughter has gone there for the past 3 years. The classes are usually over crowded with about 30 students. There is only about 10 chairs in the reception area so most parents are forced to sit on the floor in a narrow hallway or come back when the class is over. Really the classes just show basics of the particular dance and most of the year you are practicing for the recital at the end of the year. The costumes cost $70, you have to buy 4 tickets at $22 each for the show and have to get in line at 6am for tickets to get decent seats. Some parents get there as early as 4am to get tickets. Then those people who get there so early tend to buy 15+ at a time (as the school puts no limits) so it's hard to get really good seats. The recitals are usually disorganized as far as logistics. But my daughter does enjoy taking class there. ...read more
