About Lakewood, NJ
Lakewood is a township in Ocean County, New Jersey and is known as New York City region's winter resorts because of a warmer climate and pictureque holiday setting. It is also a home of a large Orthodox Jewish population. Major attractions include the Ocean County Park. Lakewood has excellent police, fire, and EMS departments. The schools are part of the Lakewood School District and there is also a private Roman Catholic school, Georgian Court University. There are lots of Jewish holidays catering to the Jewish community. One of the best places to visit when you are in Lakewood is Sister Mary Grace Burns Arboretum. Famous persons from Lakewood include John D. Rockefeller, industrialist and philanthropist, his family donated a large tract of land it owned in Lakewood to Ocean County, where the County built the current Ocean County Park. And Joe Baum, restaurateur, was also from here.
