David's Restaurant

How awful the food was at Davids at lunch today. I remember eating here about 5 years ago.. I remember it being a decent, family style restaurant with heavy meals, but OK meals. Today we were in the area and decided to go back. On the ride home I was trying to figure out what words I would use to describe how awful the food was and I can honestly say that it was the worst food (looking and tasting) that I have ever eaten the portions were enormous.. each portion enough for 4 people.. the arugula salad, the escarole & beans, the broccoli, with garlic & oil and the cavatelli with broccoli was the absolute worst looking and tasting (we only had one bite each) food ever. the greens were brown and yellow in color, the arugula salad also had yellow and brown spots.. the cavatelli was overcooked to almost paste and was served with whole pieces of broccoli on the stem that had not been trimmed or cleaned and the heads were different colors on both sides. The escarole and beans resembled a green, brown and beige mashed potato looking thing. Seriously, how can you ruin cavatelli & broccoli - it has to be the easiest thing in the world to make.. We didn't get angry - we just told our waiter that the food was inedible. We saw him go in the kitchen and tell the "chef" (who is the owner-or one of the owners) and was basically told to tell us "too bad"... he was embarrassed.. but we didn't care, we just wanted to get out before we caught anything or before we got sick. our meal was $68 with tip. We were silly enough to place a to go order before our food was served for a husband waiting at home - but we threw it out before we even got in the car.. the waiter was very nice. I feel bad for him ...read more

I lived in Japan for over 5 years, and rarely find any Japanese restaurants in NY or NJ that get it right, but this one tastes like I am back in Japan. The sushi was fresh, delicate and full of flavor; the rice properly season and well packed. As a matter of fact, I am going back there tonight with my family. ...read more

How Do Restaurants Make Enchiladas?

Many people think that an enchilada in a restaurant is much better than anything they can ever find at home, unless they know a lot of Hispanic people.
