All Mixed Up

1.0

I recently moved to the area, trying this restaurant twice now, ordering online in advance to pick up. The first time I had a salad, it was OK, nothing special, a little pricey, but overall enough to go back. The second time I went back, I ordered a salad to have for dinner later, and the turkey chili for lunch. The turkey chili was more liquid like a soup rather than beans and turkey, it was very very greasy, with the oils staining the spoon and paper container, and not even hot. I put it in the refrigerator and when I pulled it out later, all the grease had solidified and it was more grease than chili, just terrible and not something that could be eaten. I understand everyone has a bad day, so I sent an email explaining my dissatisfaction with no response which just makes it worse. At least a coupon or sorry would have been appropriate but I guess they don't care. Each time I visited the restaurant, I had to wait for my food, even though I had ordered it much in advance. They seemed unorganized and not very clean. I will not be back. ...read more

Old Man Rafferty

I've been to Old Man Rafferty's on many an occasion, with parties that ranged from two to sixteen people. So far, I have yet to be disappointed.\t\n\t\nI was familiar with the name from my Rutgers days. Having been to the New Brunswick location a couple times, I felt pretty safe going in that it would be an enjoyable dining experience and I wasn't let down.\t\n\t\nThe food is tasty, varied and reasonably priced. (You can actually get smaller portions of a number of their entrees for around ten dollars, so you are not wasting food or money.) The staff has always been friendly to me. The atmosphere is nice--modern, but warm decor, not too loud or bright.\t\n\t\nDuring the week, they often have drink specials, like half priced wine the glass, etc... \t\n\t\nThere have been a few times, when it was busy, that I waited a little longer than expected, but nothing terribly out of the ordinary. I will definitely be back and I recommend it to my friends all the time.\t\n\t\nAll in all, it's a great spot to swing by for special occasions or just an impromptu bite with a friend.\t\n ...read more
