Bretton Woods, named after Bretton Hall, the ancestral home of Royal Gov. John Wentworth, who made the land grant, is located in Coos County, New Hampshire, in the Berlin metro area. Major attractions include the White Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway, featuring scenery, covered bridges, historic sites and picturesque towns and villages and the Mount Washington Cog Railway, the world's first mountain-climbing Cog Railway train and which takes you to the top of the highest peak in the Northeast.
