I live right around the corner from this place and try to stop in about once a month just to look around and see what sort of odds'n'ends they've acquired recently. Sometimes I'll find a real bargain on something I most likely didn't need at the time, but definitely wanted -- and therefore had to have! Stop in and take a look around the next time you find yourself up by Fatz Cafe on US 1. You never know what you might find!
I stopped in one Saturday afternoon for one reason: I saw the 'Open' sign still in the window and figured it couldn't hurt to check the place out.
Very glad that I did because the quality of meats in the place impressed me more than the fact that it had not closed at 1 PM or 3 PM like other butcher shops in the area.
I picked up some gorgeous all beef jumbo hot dogs, some great looking ribs and a few other items. We had an awesome grilling session out by the pool later that evening, I assure you!
While the quality of meat and friendliness of the staff get 5 star ratings, I did feel as though the pricing on some things came in a lot higher than I would want to pay... so if you want an absolutely superb piece of quality steak and don't mind paying a little extra, the Happy Butcher will gladly take care of you -- even at 3:51 PM on a Saturday afternoon.
Since I live so clost to the place it shouldn't shock anyone that I go here a lot. Saves on gas AND allows me to gorge myself on wings ($0.35 wings on Tuesdays) and beer (they have good pitcher prices) once a week for a reasonable fare -- and I don't have to worry about driving home with a full belly and a beer buzz. I'm sure Lexington Police would only give me a warning for the full belly, but the beer buzz may cost me a few million pennies and earn me some 'vacation time' in county lockup... but I digress. Sundays they have wing AND beer specials during the Race. Thursday night they have karaoke which usually draws a large crowd, but I hate karaoke so I seldom venture that way on that night. Can't finish this w/o saying that the staff tends to take pretty good care of patrons and seldom do I find myself in need of a refill, waiting too long for food, etc.
No way would I have believed anyone if they told me I could find top-notch fine dining in the Orangeburg area. Try the Seafood Risotto as an entree, savor fresh sushi on Wednesdays that's flown in from Hawaii the day before, consult w/ on on-staff wine expert to pick the perfect bottle from a huge selection, and definitely stick around for dessert -- if you have room, that is! I eat at Four Moons every chance I get. If you're in the Orangeburg area and in the mood for some real good eats, Four Moons is the place your stomach's been asking for.... You just didn't know it yet.
