Where do I start with Dr. Steffen? My elderly father experienced a ruptured disk in his spine and had surgery on about 10 years ago. Lately, his pain has become increasingly unbearable, and he can't stand on his feet more than 10-15 minutes without losing feeling in his legs and collapsing. I finally encouraged him to seek greater treatment other than the pain medications prescribed by his regular doctor. He went to Dr. Steffen with high hopes that things would finally get better.
Unfortunately however, he only felt worse after the visit. Dr. Steffen spent about 15 minutes with my dad, looked over his MRI, and had no advice other than telling him that he had a bad back, and it is just something that he is going to have to deal with. He offered no guidance, no treatment plan, and he didn't even really examine him other than glancing through his MRI results. Then, to top it off, he asked my dad, "Why don't you just get Obamacare?" to which my dad responded that he didn't believe in it. This brought forth a good laugh from Dr. Steffen who then concluded the visit and sent my dad on his way with less hope than he had before. Well, he did give him something: a $350 bill! I suppose GB Regional's pain management department with Dr. Steffen at least lived up to their title... You have pain, and they tell you that you're going to have to manage it. Thanks, Doc!
I don't normally spend the time to write reviews online, but I felt obliged to share this awful story with any would-be patients before they waste (a lot) of their money. Luckily my dad is seeking treatment through the VA now, but I don't know of any other alternatives if you live in Great Bend. All I can say is to avoid Dr. Steffen and GB Regional's Pain Management department until they get rid of this guy.
