Not Honoring Warranty

We've recently noticed the finish pealing off the tub and a line of discoloration is appearing along the bottom of the tub.

We asked Chris to come out and take a look. He had done an amazing job on the install and is very professional!

However, I was sad to learn yesterday from the owner, Sean, that our 5 year warranty wouldn't be honored (we have a year left) and we would have to pay another $300 to have Bathcrest come and fix the problem.

We explained we'd be happy to wait until the next time they were in our area and they wouldn't have to go out of their way to fit us in. He explained it wouldn't matter.

I'm confused as to why there are additional expenses to repair if there was a warranty in placejQuery17105835220695165015_1362064676231 Is that standard practice?
