Asheboro is a city located in Randolph County, North Carolina. It is also the county seat. Asheboro has been nicknamed "Zoo City" and the "Heart of NC". The city has a population of around 24,000 people and covers just about 15.5 square miles. the residents of the city have an average household income of about $31,500. For five decades Asheboro was the largest dry city east of the east of the Mississippi River. In July of 2008, residents voted to allow the sale of beer, wine and other alcohol within the city. Among the biggest companies in Asheboro are Georgia Pacific, Klaussner Furniture, and Energizer. Students living here attend the Asheboro City Schools.
