About Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum
PLEASE CALL FIRST FOR REQUESTING TOURS. A World War II Museum, on the U.S National Register of Historic Places. The only Military Museum in Broward County. This Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The building is the only reminder from a 200 building naval base... complex from WWII. This Museum has been instrumental in preserving the memory of Flight 19 one of the great aviation mysteries. Flight 19 flew out of this former Naval Air Station on 5 December 1945 to vanish into the Bermuda Triangle. In addition, 19 year old future US President George H.W. Bush lived at this base as an Ensign, to train as a torpedo/bomber pilot. A large aviation mural on exhibit was signed by him in 1992 when he visited. On exhibit: WWII Link Trainer Flight Simulator (historic engineering and mechanical landmark). Recreated Soldier's Barracks: the George Bush Room. Also on exhibit are vintage models, WWII instruments and artifacts, a library with approximately 3,000 volumes and 10,000 naval aviation images, ship plaques, period uniforms, a 25x7 aviation mural and other original paintings and drawings. On the grounds there are two WWII torpedoes and a WWI anti-aircraft machine gun. A gift shop with unique items is also on site.

Historic find!
Great little WWII Museum you didn't know about. Very nice folks, but CALL FIRST FOR SCHEDULING A TOUR. It's run by an all volunteer staff, so their schedule is limited. Worth the time. On the National Register of Historic Places. Museum has archives of Flight 19 one of ...the great aviation mysteries, also former President George H.W. Bush trained here. It has a very historic feel to it, as it is the last remaining building from the naval base in WWII. Not recommended for small children because they have most of their artifacts on plain view, which I really enjoyed, but not for smaller children as these artifacts are historic.
