About Garryowen, MT
Garryowen is a part of the Big Horn County region of Montana and is a private city owned by Chris Kortlander, founder of one of the town's biggest attractions, the Custer Battlefield Museum. This historical museum not only showcases relics from the Battle of the Little Big Horn but also performs reenactments of the fight which began in Garryowen. The town is a registered historic site and each year hundreds of tourists stream into Garryowen to view the landmarks associated with Lt. Col. George A. Cluster's Last Stand, including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Granite Peace Memorial located behind the tomb. The largest business within the city limits is the Custer Battlefield & Trading Post Cafe, which houses a Subway restaurant, Conoco gas station, Trading Post arts and crafts store, and the Battlefield Museum. The Cross A Guest Ranch is a visitor favorite, offering homemade breakfast and the cozy feeling of country living. The biggest schools here are Little Big Horn College and Hardin Intermediate School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Garryowen is the 7th Ranch RV Camp, where you can see some of the most unique RV's for miles during the busy spring and summer seasons.
