Ocean Springs is home to many art galleries as well as a lot of festivals including the Peter Anderson Festival and the Herb Festival. Students in the city attend the Ocean Springs School District. In August of 2005, Ocean Springs was hit by Hurricane Katrina. The Ocean Springs Yacht Club, historic Fort Maurepas, and many other building were destroyed.
