The Chrysler Group took several months to build up to its Challenger introduction. Recently, at a Jan.2008 Barrett-Jackson event in Arizona, a Challenger prototype and the "First Production Purchase Rights were auctioned off to the highest bidder.  In honor of Richard Petty, the number 43 production vehicle will be auctioned on Ebay.  It will include some special "Petty" items and the proceeds going to charity. Chrysler said that the 2009 Challenger SRT8 would be built in three colors.  The retro design takes you back to the 1970 Challenger, but with an updated power train and amenities of the 21st Century.  The Challenger also recently appeared at the 100th assembly of the Chicago Auto Show of 2008, where it took two of the Shows five categories voted on by Consumers to proclaim their favorites.  Among those categories Challenger took the Best All-New Production Vehicle and The Best Chicago Auto Show World Introduction awards.  The Shelby GT500KR followed up with 18 per cent of the vote in Best Production Vehicle.  The GMC Denali came in second place to the Best Chicago World Auto Show with its concept hybird pickup truck.   Author: Fred Dodson,CarWorldConnect ...read more

CarWorldConnect was on hand at the 2008 Auto Show at he St Louis Convention Center to follow up on our intentions of reviewing the 2008 Camaro and the Dodge Challenger. The Camaro was a stylishly late arrival and did not make it to the Car Show unitl Thursday. It was worth the wait and turned some heads with its debut in St Louis. The first impression that I had with this total new look for Camaro was that it borrowed the roof lines from the Dodge Charger. The change for Camaro was one for the good.  The sleek styling of the raised center of the hood design lets you know that it does favor its big brother the Corvette.  We were not able to peek at the interior for now as this one is a "mock-up" version of what the real deal will be when it goes into production in the later part of the year. The Challenger for Dodge was not on hand  for the Show, but is scheduled to go into production in a couple of months, so we were told.  All and all the Camaro was not a disappointment and I for one will have to withhold anymore comment until it reaches the dealers with MSRP sticker attached. CarWorldConnect.com has made some strides in success, which we would like to share with you.  We recently launched our site in early December 2007.  Since that time we have spent a lot of hours on the phone and in front of perspective customers.  We are happy to announce that we reached the first page of the Google Search engine for the first time and plan to be there more often in the days to come .  We have also added a large inventory of New and Used Car ads.  We have more categories to choose from other than New and Used Cars for example: Trucks and RV's, Sports Cars and Race Cars, Classic Cars and Hotrods, Motorcycles and ATV's. The Car Show for New Cars Showing 2008, is in St Louis this week and I am planning to attend to see the New Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger for myself. I have seen GM and Chrysler pics up to this point. From what I have seen and heard, so far, it seems to good to be true. I have always liked the 1970 Challenger, and Dodge seems to be on track for the revival of the Challenger. It seems to be holding with some of the same retro styling features that made it stand out in the seventes. Dual headlights,overall contour and shape is definitely retro to the bone. Chrysler is more in step with want I thnk the customer is, or has been longing to see. The Camaro in comparison seems to reveal that GM is more interested in introducing yet another high powered futuristic line of Camaros with the Robotic European design flavor of what most American made cars have been since the disappearance of chrome trim. But thats another story. After the 23rd, and I have seen for myself, I may have a change of attitude toward the slow to produce GM, but they are in business to design and produce and I just look and comment. Over the years I've seen customer service fade away to something of a memory lirking deep into the past. Maybe I am dating myself, but I can remember when the customer was treated like Royalty when trying to make a purchase. The customer was always number one and a merchants reputation was very critical in the success or failure of that business. Sam Walton new all to well the theory behind of "customer is number one", and built an Empire on it. The Wal-Mart tradition of the customer is number one is still practiced today across the country, maybe not as much as when Mr. Walton was still alive, but it is still out there. By comparison, I have experienced less than appreciation when buying services from many merchants of today. No, "Thank You", No Have a Nice Day, No information exchange during the initial contact. I for one am fed up with small businesses that think they are doing you a favor for allowing you to shop in the store or restaurant. You pay for lousy service and receive inferior goods. I hope my business never gets to big for me never to have a personal touch, or that it would keep me insulated from my customers totally. I'm sorry but I went to a restaurant last night and got lousy service, lousy food and no, "Thank you". Whats happening to us? Have we just lost our manners, or am I just making to much out of it? My wife and I are partners in this venture at carworldconnect.com. She has put up with me for many years as a Classic Car Enthusiast and she knows that I love old cars, new ones too, but don't we all. My last car somehow turned out to be a rear engine dragster 8.98 seconds in 1/4 mile. She is putting foot down on that one. I was getting lost on some of the sites that I had used in the past to locate or sell my cars, therefore, we came to an agreement that I would stick to drivng slower cars and she would get more invovled in my car hobbies.
