Send in a post card- Homeless pets get 1 pound of food!!

The Pet Postcard Project We are avid web surfers for anything pet related and especially if it helps homeless pets.  So we were thrilled to find out about the Pet Postcards project.  For every post card submitted, one pound of food is donated to animal shelters.  Additionally, companies can also pledge support, as Rachel Ray has done. The Pet Postcard Project is currently receiving help from Rachael Ray and her Nutrish "Food Raiser" Campaign. Rachael has pledged 1 pound of dog food for each homemade postcard received in the mail by the Pet Postcard Project! The goal is to give 3 TONS of food to bothBest Friends Animal SanctuaryandSabbath Memorial Dog Rescue"Pet Postcards" for this project arehomemade postcardsfeaturing your own pets that you make and then snail mail into The Pet Postcard Project. Each card earns 1 pound of food for shelter dogs. So, if you send 10 cards for the cost of a stamp, you have given 10 lbs of food for shelter pets! Plus, it's fun. So far, this project has received thousands of cards — funny, weird, sad, cute, even more cute, profound, and above all, filled with LOVE for a beloved pet.The postcards are roughly the size of an average postcard, and are decorated with photos of pets, drawings, markers, colored pens, stickers, glitter, pretty paper — some are simple (made at your office while you're supposed to be working) and some are beautiful and complex (made by hardcore scrapbookers), and some are computer generated (for those tech savvy pet lovers). But the thing they ALL have in common is how the card makers feel about their pets.Currently, the cards come in 4 categories: Dogvice and Catvice (advice FROM dogs or cats), True Dog Confessions and True Cat Confessions; Dog Wishes and Cat Wishes; Dog Excuses and Cat Excuses (NEW!).Please include a PHOTO of the pet with your cards, or else we won't know who's advising, confessing, wishing, or making excuses! This site does NOT make money on this project. It's all to raise food and awareness for shelter animals. Don't buy: ADOPT!ADDRESS:Pet Postcard Project676A Ninth Ave.#321New York, NY 10036You can follow the Pet Postcard Project on Twitter. http://twitter.com/petpostprojectThey also have a monthly contest with fantastic prizes!Enter the monthly contest as many times as you like by mailing in your postcards. Its 4 am, and my Bouvier (Jenny) just got tagged by a skunk!!!!

How lovely. The joys  of pet ownership.... Earlier this evening, perhaps 7 pm, my husband asked where the 2 pounds of homemade venison jerky went to. "I didn't eat them"  I said.  "I didn't either" said he.  Being suspicious he asked  "Is Jenny with you?" "Yes, she's laying by my feet in the office", I replied, "so she couldn't have eaten them.  She would have to have snuck downstairs, and with stealth like precision, grabbed the 2 lb bag off the kitchen counter, hid the evidence (the bag), snuck back up here without me noticing her leaving, and laying back down all in about 3 minutes.  Oh, and scarf down a 2 pound bag as well,  Even SHE is not that good" She was.  sigh So the after effects were putting her outside several times so she could eliminating her venison purging via her colon.   Last time I let her out was at 2:30 am when I was awoken by an unmistakeable, uncomfortable whine. I went back to bed, and was awoken ever so gently by my husband saying "It's your turn" meaning it was my cue to go let Jenny back in the house.  The clock stated 3:45.   I stumbled towards the door, let Jenny in, went back to bed, she followed me and took her place of honor on her bed on the floor next to our bed.    I cover my head with our comforter, as I always do and saidy to Jon, "Why does our blanket smell like skunk??". With a disgusted voice he said, "Because JENNY smells like skunk!!" OMG, did she ever!  It was horrible!!  I quickly shooed her off her bed, launched it out our second story bedroom window, and quickly put her into our office.  Typing frantically  I found an internet posting that says to use a solution of baking soda, peroxide, and dish detergent on them. Well, both hubby and I together washed Jenny with the above solution, then followed it with a skunk dog shampoo (which unfortunatley I always have several bottles on hand), and ta dahhh, it worked! The smell was so strong initially I didn't think the shampoo alone would work, so thank God for the internet (and thanks to my daughter for havibg just bought a pint........... of peroxide!!  ;0 ...read more
