Sir G Italian Restaurant

5.0

Had heard advertisements for Sir G's many times but never had a chance to go until this summer. Worth the wait! Salad was loaded with fresh grated mozzerella cheese. Entrees- even the medium or half portions, were generous and very tasty! I sampled some of my mom's spaghetti that was included as a side with her chicken parmesan, and you knew immediately that this was FRESH homemade pasta, not something from a box.\t\n\t\nBusy place- if you arrive during peak meal times during summer tourist season be prepared to wait as it is fairly small establishment, but you will not be disappointed.\t\n\t\nI will be back in the Fall; maybe try their pizza to see if it is just as good as the pasta. It looked good- saw a thin crust style on someone else's table. ...read more

3 of us went to the Boathouse on a Tuesday mid- afternoon. First drawback, they had run out of blueberry wheat beer so my husband had to settle for something else not so 'special' in terms of a beer. OK fine- that happens. Second, all we ordered was chicken wings and cheese curds. We waited easily 25+ minutes which is entirely too long. Looking around the restaurant, we noticed that everyone else also had been waiting a very long time for the same type of food, as well as burgers, etc. (we were one of the last tables to be served) When I asked about the long wait, that person had conveniently just started their shift and had no clue but we never got any explanation from the server as to why we had to wait so long. We were pretty close to leaving, paying for just our beverages. The chicken wings were good, the cheese curds we OK. Nothing like at the fair.\t\n\t\nI heard from a co-worker who went there a week later that they were out of another beer when they went.\t\n\t\nIf you have nothing better to do but wait for food, then go ahead and try this place. If you are there for the microbrews, I suggest you ask if they are out of anything first before plopping down on a bar stool. ...read more

Silver Rapids Lodge

We stayed in the "motel" section. Probably new in the 1960s and patched over since then. Door lock really didn't work, mattresses were 20+ years old, saggy, with springs poking you. Mold in the bathroom. Last straw was the deer tick found on our son. We weren't in the woods yet! If it had been $80/night it would have been too much, but for the price we paid you could have stayed at a REAL resort. I will not recommend this hotel and will tell everyone I know to stay away! ...read more

How Do Restaurants Make Enchiladas?

Many people think that an enchilada in a restaurant is much better than anything they can ever find at home, unless they know a lot of Hispanic people.
