Cook is a part of the St Louis County region/metro area of Minnesota. Major attractions include Pehrson Lodge Resort and Ludlow's Island Resort. Each year in the summer season there is the Annual Farmer's Market. Among the biggest companies in Cook are Gilley's Naturals and Cook Dollar Barn. The biggest schools here are Cook Elementary School and Cook Secondary School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Cook is Comet Theater.

On Wednesday, December 10 at 6:30 p.m., the junior high and high school North Woods School choirs will be giving a Winter Concert in the Commons area of the North Woods School. The junior high choir will begin with a very entertaining Latin number, "Hot Chocolate", followed by another exciting hit, "Love is an Open Door" from the motion picture, "Frozen". The 7th Grade girls ensemble show their talents on the traditional number, "Christmas Song". The whole choir ends with a gift of song to their parents: "The Gifts You've Given to My Life". The high school choir begins with a fun, relaxing tune, "Jingle Bell Rock", followed by a solo you don't want to miss by tenth grader, Brandon Dehn, "Colder Weather", and backed by the choir. The choir reminds us of the reason for the season as they sing, "Hey, Brother". Xari Mankowski will also be performing a solo, "Silent Night", while accompanying herself on guitar. A traditional "Silver Bells" will be followed by a great closing number, "When Peace Shall Come". The Junction Bar in Togo, MN was re-opened in June 2012 after being closed for 13 months. The New management has their act together, since they also own Wizzard's in Nashwauk, MN. Denny Hill has been supplying me with Good Wood products since 2005. Denny has a Wood Miser band saw mill and he is an Expert with it. His wide pieces used for mantles, just about don't need sanding! As a displaced homemaker/homeschooling mom for years, the working world is grueling. How do we do it? I know there are families out there that jointly do the housework and split up the home life responsibilities, but it seems like a lot of us are just working like mad to keep up. Then again, maybe it's just me.... One of the things I love about my business is the creativity it affords me. Yesterday a friend mentioned that our products can all be used for several things (which brings up the multi-tasking issue I hate) and that I should expound on those extras more often. For example, the Cuticle Wax is WONDERFUL for your cuticles, healing up those little rips and softening it so we don't pick at them :) then can also be used for your lips and cheeks to prevent chapping! I also use it overnight when my hands are really dry and suffering because of too much cleaning (another reason not to do dishes). After watching the movie about blogging and Julia Childs, I thought I might give it a try. Evidently people have time to read online and who knows?! I have a small shop in a small town (of which I'm now a big fish-----new business you know) and make natural care products. A sort of Natural Bath and Body Works I guess. We do a lot of lotions, skin care, things for kids and babies, etc. We also sell essential oils and herbal remedies besides a few dry herbs and teas. It's a beautiful shop, very cozy and it smells incredible. At least that's what everyone says! Since I do all the manufacturing, I'll keep you posted on what I'm making and pass on some recipes too. I also have help with the work, my daughter Sarah helps and we're a good team. I think up the products and recipes and she makes and bottles them. Perfect team work, eh?
