About Traverse City, MI
Traverse City is a part of the Northwest region of Michigan known for its location near the shores of Lake Michigan and as the second most popular tourist destination in the state. Major attractions include the nearby Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore and the annual Cherry Festival as well as the famous Interlochen Arts Academy. Each year the city holds the Cherry Festival in July to celebrate being the 'Cherry Capital of the World'. The Traverse City Film Festival draws quite a crowd to the town every year, ever since Michael Moore began backing the festival. The biggest schools here are Northwestern Michigan College and a local campus of Western Michigan University. One of the best places to visit when you are in Traverse City is the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, they are a magnificent site and great place for recreation.
