care and storage for inkjet cartridges when not in use

How should I care for and store my cartridge when not in use?Place empty cartridges in a sealed zip-lock bag with a moist towel (paper towel dampened with water). Do not cover print head with moist towel as this can cause mixing of the colors. Try not running your cartridge completely dry – this is not good for your printer or the cartridge. Full cartridges need to be stored upright.  Inkjet cartridges use gravity for a feed system and rely on surface tension to keep them from leaking.  Laying a cartridge on it's side will cause the ink to move away from the print head and create an air pocket.  This will lead to your cartridge not getting ink or can cause the cartridge to dry out. ...read more

HP concedes nothing wrong with remanufactured ink cartridges

As mentioned, remanufacturing cartridges isn't necessarily a problem. There are plenty of companies that refill cartridges and resell them, offering many consumers and businesses cheaper alternatives to the cartridges sold by printer manufacturers. "There's absolutely nothing wrong with that; it's an accepted part of a competitive industry," according to Tuan Tran, vice president of marketing and sales for HP's supplies business. "That is a legal competition in our minds." Read the full story here,http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9584_22-6193424.html?tag=st.prev ...read more

Why use Remanufactured ink cartridges?

Every toner cartridge contains OIL and is made up of approximately four pounds of non-biodegradable parts that will pollute the environment forever. Every time you use remanufactured cartridges, you help reduce the amount of petroleum based plastic thrown into landfills. In 1989, 40,000 tons of non-biodegradable plastics were thrown into landfills. Every year since, that amount has grown even larger - in 2002 estimated at 78,000 tons. In 2004, 1.8 billion cartridges were thrown into the worlds landfills. ...read more
