Hamtramck is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan. Among the biggest companies in the city are General Motors Detroit/Hamtramck Plant, Detroit Axel and Kowalski Sausage Company. Students living here attend the Hamtramck Public Schools. The city is host to many annual events including the St. Florian Strawberry Festival, The Planet Ant Video & Film Festival, the Hamtramck Blowout and Paczki Day. The Indie film,Polish Wedding, was filmed almost entirely in the city. The movie's writer and director, Theresa Connelly, was born and raised in Hamtramck. Other famous people with ties to the city include former pro basketball player and coach Rudy Tomjanovich and former NFL player Roger Zatkoff.
