About Fremont, MI
Fremont is a city located in Newaygo County, Michigan. In the 1870's the Gerber Family moved to the city to open a tannery, which ended up becoming one of Fremont's major industries. In the 1890's the area began to run out of lumber, and the family decided to start farming and opened the Fremont Canning Company, which would then become Gerber Products Company, the world's most famous maker of baby food. The company is still headquartered here today and makes up a large part of the city's economy. Students living here attend the Fremont Public Schools. Major attractions in Fremont include the National Baby Food Festival, the Harvest Festival and the Stonegate Golf Club. Bret Zagers, former pro football player, is from Fremont.
