The Macomb County city of Fraser, MI is located 15 miles north of Detroit and has a population of 15,297 (2000 Census). Named after a Detroit lawyer by the name of Alexander J. Fraser, The Village of Fraser was incorporated in 1895, renamed Fraser in 1928, and incorporated as a city in 1956. Fraser's public school district is Fraser Public Schools. Their charter high school, Arts Academy in the Woods, focuses on music and the visual and performance arts. Both Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup winner Chad LaRose and Jacksonville Jaguars and former Purdue tight end Charles Daviswas were born in Fraser, MI.
