About Flint, MI
Flint is a city northwest of Detroit metro area of Michigan in the Flint/Tri-Cities region known for ifor being the birthplace of General Motors. Major attractions include Alfred P. Sloan Museum and ongway Planetarium. As annual events each year there is the Flint Jazz Festival and the Back To The Bricks (Car Show). Among the biggest companies in Flint are Citizens Republic Bancorp, and General Motors. Public K-12 education is provided under the umbrella of the Flint Community Schools. Students attend 25 elementary schools, a gender based 7-8 academy (Holmes), and fewer than five high schools (Northern, Southwestern, Northwestern, School of Choice, and Mott Middle College). Mark Ingram, the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner and a member of the National Champion 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide football team is from Flint.
