Acting classes are very helpful
I am too short to be a males runway model but I took the acting classes for commercial advertising. It is worth every penny. Yes it is up to you to search for jobs

It's a Scam
This place is a huge scam. I attended and learned how to do basic makeup, posing and runway (which is irrelevant for me because Im not tall enough to do runway anyway). When you complete the classes you do a shoot with a so called professional photographer who knows nothing about composing a good photo. Most of my photos were unbalanced, blurry or overexposed. Sure they guarantee a contract but they don't guarantee bookings. The school's director herself, who is definitely NOT model material to say the least, told me herself that they have to accept anyone who walks through the door in order to comply with anti-discrimination laws, so not everyone will get booked after they complete the classes. So if they want your money for anything it's a scam. If they like what they see after viewing your portfolio, they will offer you a contract not classes.

Yes, it IS a scam.
I went to Mayo Hill in 2008 and it was the hugest waste of time and money. If you haven't invested tons of dollars in clothes, make up, or accessories beforehand (they "scouted" me in the mall and I've never been interested in fashion, but I gave into the glamorous illusion), they will provide you NOTHING. You not only pay them for mediocre classes, you pay for hundreds of dollars worth of stuff just to meet requirements for certain class activities. Many girls dropped out in the first week but I didn't understand why at the time. Instructors are nasty and make students feel isolated and inferior if they are not white, tall, thin, and blonde (they will take ANYONE'S money, so not everyone there looks like a standard model), which is unacceptable in a place so diverse as Houston. Only one teacher, Danielle Walker, was worth knowing. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Everything I learned there from cheap, faded print out packets I could have learned from library books.
