Words cannot express how much I love ILoveKickboxing Westford! I purchased a 3-pack Web special and was hooked after my very first class. Unlike most gyms/studios I have tried, the instructors here are anything but intimidating. They are friendly, fun, at times goofy, and motivating. Same goes for the members, many of whom I now consider friends. In the past few months, I have become much stronger. I have toned my arms and legs and have much more energy. Join ILKB – you won’t regret it! ...read more

4 things to expect in a Kickboxing Class

Whether your goal is to increase your strength, boost your confidence, hone your coordination, or simply participate in a kickass cardio workout, kickboxing is sure keep you coming back for more. By combining cardio conditioning, authentic kickboxing combinations and a supportive, high-energy group atmosphere, there’s always something exciting to look forward to when you head to the kickboxing studio. If you’re new to ILKB, here are a few things you can expect before raising those fists for the first time.   AN INTENSE – BUT EXHILIRATING – WARMUP Every I Love Kickboxing class starts with a 15-minute, HIIT warm-up. While you may initially dread the warm-up, your body will definitely thank you – it’s vital for raising your heart rate, increasing blood flow, and preventing injury and tears. You might be surprised to hear that, for many members, the once-dreaded warm-up turns into their favorite part of class after just a few weeks!   LEARNING AUTHENTIC KICKBOXING TECHNIQUES While the goal of kickboxing fitness classes is not to teach self-defense in the traditional sense, knowing you can fight off a would-be attacker with a disarming kick or punch will leave you holding yourself with a little more confidence. The authentic techniques combinations you learn and perfect at ILKB can be used in real-life practical defense applications, so pay close attention as you’re learning those punches, jabs and kicks. A FULL (AND WE MEAN FULL!) BODY WORKOUT In a typical class, we use heavy bags, gloves, high-intensity interval training and partner work. While each class follows a format, new combo variations and exercises are added daily to keep things exciting – and your muscles guessing. Class starts with 15 minutes of high-intensity interval training using body weight, then is followed by stretching, six bag rounds and a speed round, some partner drills and conditioning, and final stretching.   A NEW FIT FAMILY When you become an ILKB member, you might expect to lose weight. But what you might not expect is that you gain an entire fit family! We really care about creating a community atmosphere in the group, where you don’t just come in and take a class and leave, but you connect and become friends. Classes also feature multiple instructors to help members with technique and motivation. In the end, having this strong support system holds you more accountable, sets you up for a success, and keeps you coming back for more. ...read more

Five reasons why you should consider a summer day camp for your child

School is out for the summer and you need to keep your children busy at home. Every parent knows what a mission that can be. Especially, if both parents are working and the children are alone home. This is where summer day camps come in. Many parents are sending their children to day camps so that they can be kept busy and stay out of trouble. For those parents that are still wondering if this is something to consider, here are 5 reasons why you should consider a summer day camp for your child.     1:-Keep them active and healthy during the holidays   The modern child is getting unhealthy and lazy. This is because of the technology that children are using today. The technology lets them sit the whole day, playing games, or chatting with friends. Not something that will enhance your child's health. When they are going to summer day camps, they are going to be active and this will ensure that they are staying fit and healthy. Children don't really want to be active anymore and they are becoming unhealthy.  2: Let them make true friends that they can count on   Most children have school friends. And, then there are those children that have true friends that are there for them, no matter what. If you are asking about their friendships, they will say it came from summer day camp. This is something that most parents want for their children. True friends that they can count on. They are between more children than just the children at their local school. Making sure that the child finds friends that he can count on for a long time. 3: The day camps assist in making them more independent In the world that we are living today, it is important to have self-esteem and need to be independent. Children that are sitting at home the whole day, and that doesn't socialize with other children won't learn these skills to be independent adults one day. This is what summer day camps are all about. Teaching children to become more independent and to get more self-esteem. There are too many children that are struggling to become independent and they are struggling as adults. At the day camps, no parent is allowed and the children need to get things done on their own, without asking mom or dad for assistance. 4:- Getting rid of technology during the day Technology. The number one thing for children these days. And, we as parents know the importance for them to get fresh air and to become a bit more active. To be able to stay at home for weeks and just being on technology is every child's dream. However, with the summer day camp that you can send your child to, the use of technology is going to be limited. It might even be forbidden because of not having a signal. Learning children that there are more to life than just using technology. 5:-It is a lot more fun for child and parent It is really fun to be at summer day camps. For children of all ages. And, the best part is that it is also great fun for the parent as well. Why? Because the parents don't need to worry about their children that are staying at home alone during the day. And, there is no way that they can moan that there are bored during the day. The best part is that it is just as great for the children. They are doing the things they love and they are spending some time with their friends during the day. The activities are designed for enjoyment and the child will benefit and enjoy the summer day camps.   Summer day camps. This is not only a great experience for parents, but this is also a great learning experience for children. Your children will learn that they can be independent and that they can have true friends. Things that they can only learn at day camps. There isn't any reason why a parent should not consider booking their child in a summer day camp. They will have the fun of their lives, and you will have a couple of week's rest without children nagging around you.   Resource By : http://www.sooperarticles.com/travel-articles/vacation-homes-articles/five-reasons-why-you-should-consider-summer-day-camp-your-child-1663427.html  ...read more

limiting the space to only 10 spots per week.

Autism Spectrum Disorder has become a growing challenge for both parents as well as service providers.Although great strides have been made in addressing the needs of individuals with a diagnosis of being on the spectrum, there is still a long way to go. Since the inception of The MLDC, the program has accepted children with ASD on an informal and limited basis. Our older staff members and low ratios made working with high-functioning kids viable within our program. Each year we would receive new campers who were referred to us from former campers, however we consistently wondered why parents were seeking us out specifically for this condition. We began taking a closer look at the reasons and the answer quickly became clear; there are no specific summer services in the area for children with ASD. During the school year, kids have access to resources within the educational system, but at the end of June it’s a different story. The premise behind Camp Apex is to provide an environment where high-functioning children with ASD can improve their social skills, learn to make eye contact and engage in conversation. What better place to do that than insummer day camps! Without possessing those attributes, kids with ASD realize that they are treated differently by their peers and most often in a negative fashion. Our goal is help these kids make strides toward understanding the various facets of interpersonal interaction. This program is for high-functioning children and we are limiting the space to only 10 spots per week.Campers are accepted on a case-by-case basis and must be approved prior to registering. Pricing is structured based on the degree of assistance necessary. For a child who comes with his/her own aid, the cost is the same as our Junior Discovery and Teen Exploration camps. If an aid is needed, you will have a choice of an LIT II (16–17 Leader/Buddy/Assistant) to be with your child for the day. This Leader would assist your child with daily activities, encourage friendships and help your child to navigate the program. The cost of this is an additional $250 per week. If you believe your child requires more intense guidance or supervision throughout the day, we will assign someone with greater experience in this area who will be his/her one-on-one supervisor at $15 /hour. This person would be at least 21 years of age and have experience with this level of monitoring. We can only guarantee assistance if we know before April 1, so that we can secure a compatible aid for your child. Resource By :https://marcuslewisdaycamp.com/autism ...read more
