About Mattapoisett, MA
Mattapoisett is a lovely Massachusetts coastal town, with a large harbor on Buzzard's Bay near Cape Cod. Mattapoisett, name deriving from a Native American term for "place of rest," has a rich history as a whaling and ship-building community. Spanning an area of 17.5 square miles, the town offers a wide range of living conditions varying from waterfront to colonial village homes to unique suburban developments and farm houses. The Town Hall is located on Main St. in the very heart of the Village. Major attractions include Seahorse Landmark at Dunseith Gardens, Ned's Point Lighthouse at Veteran's Park and Mattapoisett Historical Society Museum and Carriage House. Mattapoisett is home to the Old Colony Vocational Highschool. Mattapoisett boasts many beautiful beaches including the Nasketucket Bay State Reservation, Mattapoisett Town Beach, Neds Point Beach, and Harbor Beach.
