About Elton, LA
Elton is located in Jefferson Davis Parish, part of the Acadiana region of Louisiana. Though known for its quaint, rural setting, the area is well-situated on transportation routes, including road, waterway, and rail. The largest Coushatta reservation is situated just north of Elton, although the Coushattas initially lived primarily in Georgia and Alabama. Attractions in Elton include the nearby Coushatta Casino and Resort, as well as the Lucky D Game Club. Elton has its own branch of the Jeff Davis Parish Library, as well as a Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. Elton has two schools, an elementary and secondary. Elton became an incorporated village in 1911. The name Elton is reported to have come from a book about England that the wife of an early pioneer was reading.
