About Dequincy, LA
DeQuincy is the northern most town in Louisiana's Calcasieu Parish. It is part of the Lake Charles Metro Area. The city is was founded as a rail road settlement and and the railroads, Kansas City Southern and Union Pacific, are still among the biggest employers of residents. The timber industry also plays a major part in the city's economy. The Temple-Inland's Southwest Louisiana Lumber Operation is a leading employer in DeQuincy. The city's Industrial Airpark is home to businesses such as Thermoplastics Services, Recycle Inc, Paragon Plastic Sheet and Unified Oilfield Services. Students here attend the Calcasieu Parish Schools which includes DeQuincy Middle School, DeQuincy Elementary and DeQuincy High School. Famous people with ties to the city include NBA star Anthony Pullard, actor Craig Stark, and Grammy winning singer Freddy Fender.
