Bogalusa is a city located in Washington Parish, Louisiana. The city's economy is based around lumber mills, paper mills and agriculture. The largest employer in Bogalusa is the Temple-Inland Corporation, current owners of the Great Southern Lumber Company which opened in 1906. Students living in Bogalusa attend the Bogalusa City Schools. The city is also home to the Louisiana Technical College-Sullivan Campus, one of the schools 42 campuses. Bogalusa is also where the Louisiana Army National Guard's 205th Engineer Battalion is located. Famous people with ties to the city include piano legend Professor Longhair and Pulitzer Prize winner Yusef Komunyakaa.
