About Stanford, KY
The city of Stanford, named for Stamford, England, is located on Saint Asaph Creek in Lincoln County, Kentucky, in the Danville metro area. Major attractions include the L&N Depot and the William Whitley House State Historic Site, completed in 1794 and dubbed the "Guardian of Wilderness Road," it was the first brick home and circular racetrack built west of the Alleghany Mountains. Each year in July, the Lincoln County Fair is held here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Stanford is the nearby Old Fort Harrod State Park, a recreated fort with blockhouses, cabins, a school, a museum, a playground and a picnic area.
