This store does not accommodate the handicapped. For many years I have been a patron of Magic Mart. In the last few years I have become handicapped, and I still patronized the store when I could get there. I have used their layaway a number of times, and they have always allowed my niece and her dad to pick my things up. Recently I put some things in layaway and check with the clerk as I always do because I don't get there much and know that policies can change. I asked the clerk if my niece would still be able to pick up the layaway, and she said yes as long as she had the layaway slip. I asked are you sure that that will be okay and she again confirmed that it was. So when my niece went to pick up the layaway they wouldn't let her have it. She explained to the manager Debra Flores that we had asked before we did the layaway if we needed to put it in her name and she assured us that it was okay in my name and that she could pick it up for me. Ms Flores gave her excuses and said there was no way she would give her the layaway. I called Ms Flores and asked her for her supervisor and the district supervisor's numbers. She could only give me one, but that is okay Ms FLores I got the other one. I told her I would be in to cancel the layaway and take my business elsewhere and I would be asking my friends to do the same. She wanted to give me the same excuses and I told her I'm sorry but your clerk told us it would be okay. We went by what the clerk said. If we'd been informed correctly that night we would have put everything in my nieces name so there would be no problem. I told her that I would never shop at Magic Mart again. If you can't go in a store and trust what the clerk tells you, then what are you suppose to do. If I wasn't disabled it wouldn't be a problem. ...read more
