Edward Fox ~ How to get the best bang for your buck with print ads

  G'day, When it comes to print advertising, there is a lot of naysayers out there. I hear it's dead, no one reads print publications anymore and all sort of other garbage. Has readership gone down? yes,  Have some daily, weekly, monthly newspapers gone out of business? again yes.  I know statistics can be found to say anything you want them to, it's interesting that game informer magazine circulation in 2011 was up by 48.1 %. Yep one example , so what. My point is what age group reads game informer ? , i'm sure you can figure that one out.  There is good print advertising options out there, you just have to hunt them down, look for the good deals. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater as they say. Yes print advertising over all is shrinking, or can I suggest it's correcting to new normal, and that there will always be a niche for the right print publications. So my few suggestions are  1) Clearly define your target customer and find out what they read. 2) Frequency of the ad is more important then the size of ad. Be consistent, your better off spreading your advertising dollar over a longer period to the ideal target customer then trying to media blitz your business or product for a short period of time.  3) People read the headline then a picture caption, make sure you have both. If that doesn't grab their attention then they won't read the rest of your ad.  ( oh and put your business logo or name and contact info at the bottom of the ad , not the top.) 4) Keep it short, sweet and to the point.  5) Pictures Sell ( remember a picture is worth 1000 words )  6) Be sure to include your website. They had great artwork made the same day and my ad running by 3 p.m. same day!
