About Mission, KS
Mission is a part of Johnson County, Kansas, in the Kansas City metro area. Because of its clear water spring, Mission used to be a stop for wagons moving west on the Santa Fe Trail in the 19th century. Mission is also known for its commitment to sustainability, having rejected the building of a Wal-Mart store within its city limits. It is also part of the Mayors Climate Protection Agreement which tries to reduce greenhouse gases. The Mission Arts and Eats Festival is held in September. Places to visit around Mission include the nearby Kansas City and the Johnson Public Library.
