Mayetta is a city in Jackson County, Kansas. The town was originally named Lungarsville after the Lungar family. When the Lungar’s daughter Mary Henrietta Lungar died on the wagon train west, they changed the town name to Mayetta, because that was her nickname. Thunderhill Speedway is a terrific racing facility. The only problem is in the marketing of the track and the wonderful drivers who race there.
