Generally wine tasting is my preference but given a variety of tasty beers I will happily try them all and muse awhile over their individual flavors and smells.

Recently I had an opportunity to taste 6 different beers at the Belmont Brewing Company.  They have some very good beers and are one of the few local micro brews so I decided for this entry to share with you my tasting notes regarding these beers.

Marathon – this is the lightest of the six, definitely for those that generally prefer something like B*dweiser although it has far more character and flavor than something like that, you can probably drink it like water therefore it would be perfect for a ‘marathon' day of beer drinking – if you are into that sort of thing

Pale Ale – this beer is very interesting, it has a fruity nose but comes up very dry and somewhat bitter, I liked it

Strawberry Blonde – this beer is light, summery, refreshing, flavorful and makes me want to color my hair to be just like it, definitely my favorite of the six

Top Sail – this beer has a delicious floral smell to it and complex flavors, it's a little bitter which I generally don't like but it was actually my second favorite beer

Long Beach Crude – this beer is thick and dark, it smells and looks like black coffee with a citrus finish, I would recommend this to the Guinness fans

The sixth beer I think was a Porter.  It was not labelled but it was a dark beer similar to the Crude but lighter in flavor and texture.  It was an interesting blend of sweetness and bitterness with a rich chocolate smell and hints of tobacco in the flavor.

Overall, there wasn't one in the bunch that I didn't like.  I don't drink beer that often and when I do I prefer something dark and more flavorful such as a Guinness or something light and refreshing like Great White.  I will always choose a micro brew over a big label.
