Morgantown is a town located in Morgan County, Indiana. It is a part of Jackson Township. According to the 2000 census, the population was 964. The founder of Morgantown is Colonel John Vawter; he moved there in 1849 and founded the Baptist church. Morgantown is also known as the gateway to Brown County.
