American Heart Association's new CPR recommendations

The AHA CPR recommendations are out.  There's been a switch in the sequence of CPR.  Instead of the old ABC -- which stands for Airway, Breathing, Circulation.  It's now CAB -- Circulation, Airway, Breathing.  The main difference is that rather than initially tilting the head back and giving 2 breaths, now you start with 30 compressions, then give the 2 breaths.  The thinking is that there is already some oxygen in the victim and that circulating that existing oxygena... Keep an eye on your child around water

Did you know that a child can drown in the time it takes to answer a phone call?  75 percent of child and infant drowning victims were missing from sight for less than 5 minutes.   75 percent of child victims are between 1 and 3 years old.  Toddlers are drawn to water.  Always keep and eye on them around water. If you have a child or your job requires supervising children, it's important to take a CPR class, which will include how to respond to drowning emergencies.
