The town of Ferdinand, founded in 1840 and named for the Emperor Ferdinand of Austria, is located in Dubois County, Indiana, in the Jasper metro area. Major attractions within minutes of Ferdinand include the Monastery Immaculate Conception, which is the monastery of The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand and the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, where you'll find a reconstructed log cabin, and the grave of President Lincoln's, mother. The biggest schools here are Forest Park High School and Ferdinand Elementary School. One of the best places to visit when you are in Ferdinand is the 900-acre Ferdinand State Forest, known for its excellent deer and squirrel hunting and where you can enjoy camping, fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking, hiking and mountain biking.
