I live in Findlay and have given Stans many chances to live up to the hype everyone gives them. 3 occasions led to the same thing. Terrible food. Luke warm cottage cheese, overcooked bland veggies, disgusting tasting meat. Im not some high class food connoisseur i just expect a decent meal when i pay the kind of money they charge. Limited resturant selection and poor quality steaks caused me to look outside in Mattoon / Chaleston, IL for dinner with my sons during EIU Family Weekend. Findley was about a 30 minute drive through a rural area. However, the meal was well worth the drive. I had a very tender and well seasoned prime rib along with grilled shrimp, green beans, and a baked potato. The shrimp were smaller than expected, but well prepared. My sons each had rib eye. Each were pleased with the flavor and preparation. They enjoyed very tasty waffle fries and crab legs. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. The owners' young son even stopped by to check on us. The waitress recommended dessert of pie which my sons enjoyed ~ one peach and the other chocolate cream. The crust was flakey and the right thickness. The peach was well prepared. The chocolate was excellent. The 16 year old said it tasted like "hot chocolate with whipped cream"!
