You may not realize that heat kills batteries. Excessive heat causes the battery to vent electrolyte and reduces the capacity. You can care for flooded car and motorcycle batteries by checking the fluid level and refilling with distilled water only. The liquid should cover the top of the plates but should not completely fill the battery case. Cell phone and camera batteries also suffer in extreme heat. This last week has been really busy with many folks bringing in frozen car and ATV batteries for replacement. Here's a few tips for keeping your batteries healthy throughout the season.
