About Luana, IA
Luana is a part of the Driftless are of Iowa, known for having missed being covered in ice during the last ice age. Because the area was exposed, streams and runoff from glaciers carved deep valleys into the terrain. The small city of Luana has a population of 249 and a land area of 1 square mile. The elevation of the city is 1,132 feet. Luana has a tornado record slightly higher than the rest of Iowa, but 127% greater than the national average. The largest company in Luana is the Swiss Valley plant. In 1955 the Luana High School consolidated with neighboring Farmersburg and Monona to form the MFL High School. Luana is home to the Tri-City Golf Club. If you are in Luana, stop by the Heidelberg Pub and Eatery on Main Street.
