Any towing service operating within the city shall, within thirty (30) minutes of the removal of a vehicle from a private parking lot within the city limits, notify the non-emergency police service bureau of the Wilmington Police Department of the towing; the name of the company actually towing the vehicle; the exact location from which the vehicle was removed; the storage site; the time the vehicle was towed or removed; and the make, model, year, color, vehicle identification number (VIN), and license plate number of the vehicle; and shall obtain and retain the police department's internal control number assigned to the call.
This prevents the police from looking for a stolen vehicle and allows the owner to find their vehicle faster than calling 35+ towing companies.  Please don't park where you are not suppose to. It is only our job to remove the vehicle if the property owner calls on us to do so.  I hope this helps you.
