Ton Ton Ramen

4.0

By itrfan50

Saw this place a while ago and finally got the chance to get there. Went in and wasn't quite sure what to order cause most of it looked good, but finally decided on the soft rib. Friend had the oxtail. When the order came, it all looked awesome. Choi sum, some toasted? garlic, and the soft rib meat. Dove in and went to cut or bite the meat, and know what? The meat was so soft, I couldn't decide to use the spoon or the chopstick to cut it up. It was melt in your mouth awesome! The broth was light but flavorful, not really the thick rich type . Come to find out they make their own broth slow cooking it, don't use all the pork fat etc or powder base. All home made. including the char siu and gyoza. I have to admit I changed my perception of ramen and would definitely be back for more. ...read more

Leeward Drive-In

2.0

By ANDY

Food quality has severely deteriorated since the "new" Leeward Drive-In took over. I ordered the Fried Rice Plate and it was honestly the greasiest plate lunch I have ever eaten (or tried to). It was as if someone poured a cup of oil in the mixture. While the portion was huge, it is of no value if the food is not palatable. To be fair, I went back tonight and ordered the Fried Rice Plate again. Results were similar if not worse! While this time the food was not greasy, the cook forgot to add green onions (gotta have green onions in fried rice) and cut the luncheon meat so thin that you could see right through it. In the "old" days the luncheon meat was at least a quarter of an inch thick. I gave a rating of 2 stars only because Leeward Drive-In makes just about the best sweet-sour spareribs anywhere. ...read more

Thai Kitchen

5.0

By ace

Thai Kitchen is one of the oldest and in my opinion, the BEST Thai Restaurant in Hawaii and possibly the whole world! Nam and her family are the friendliest people. They are so knowledgeable and passionate about Thai food and are very helpful in choosing your meal if you are inexperienced. Chef Lisa is so skillful with her ingredients and cooking methods that every dish is a fragrant and tasty masterpiece. My son and I have eaten at every Thai Restaurant on this island and even at the most famous Thai restaurant in the world. A few have come close but none can even compare to Thai Kitchen. Thai Kitchen sets the standard for Thai restaurants everywhere and it is also very, very reasonable. So if you are out on this side of the island, stop by. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. When me and my son eat somewhere else, we always tell eachother that we should have eaten at Thai Kitchen! ...read more

I am coming tonight Mr. Jurison....... ...read more

Thai Kitchen

Atmosphere is nice - white cloth tablecloths with fresh flowers. Clean restaurant although building is older and a bit rundown (bars on front door). The wait staff is very friendly.\t\nAs far as food goes, think Keo's Thai Kitchen at half the price. The Evil Shrimp Curry is fantastic and hot means hot on this menu! The spring rolls are filled with lots of veggies and come with a tasty sauce. I love the calamari - never overcooked, tender with a delicious batter. The stuffed buffalo wings (stuffed with veggies) are always great w/the peanut sauce. Order your meal with the Thai Sticky Rice (comes in a basket) and a Thai Tea to enjoy a perfect lunch:) ...read more

Japanese cooking like how grandma would make back during the sugar plantation days. Located below the fame sugar stack in the heart of old Waipahu Town in a somewhat desserted shopping complex. Food is homestyle Japanese food, great for families. Service is atttentive. My favorites are the Teishoku combos, like the Chicken Tofu and Teriyaki Beef. Reservations recommended for parties of 5 or more. Closed on Mondays. Open for lunch and dinner. ...read more

How Do Restaurants Make Enchiladas?

Many people think that an enchilada in a restaurant is much better than anything they can ever find at home, unless they know a lot of Hispanic people.
