About Statesboro, GA
Statesboro, just west of Georgia's eastern coast, was once part of a huge tobacco-growing region and was infamously burned down by Union Gen. William T. Sherman on his 1864 ?March to the Sea? campaign. The county seat of Bulloch County, Statesboro is home to Georgia Southern University. It is immortalized in a classic blues song, ?Statesboro Blues,? credited to artist Blind Willie McTell and recorded by the Allman Brothers Band of Macon. A top attraction is the city's Emma Kelly Theater, named after a Statesboro musical figure who was known as the ?Lady of 6,000 Songs.?
