I had a horrible experience at this facility. I was made many false promises. My surgery failed. Years later I discovered from an x-ray that Dr. Greene had left steel surgical clips inside me. I called and called. I sent email after email. Finally Dr. Greene spoke to me. I expressed concern about the clips after all there was never a mention to me or in my operation report of clips. I was sent to North House in 2007. I had been using drugs for about 18 years. I lost my husband to an overdose less than 2 weeks after I arrived. Marilyn Davis took me when I was as broken and down as I had ever been and showed me how to live. She not only taught me the tools I needed to live clean and sober she showed me how to change the things that were necessary to stay that way. She helped me through my grieving and taught me how to be a good person and that allowed me to be the mother my kids needed. I have a life now that a few years ago would have been jealous at others for having. I choose now to stay part of the house as a graduate as well as working there. She also has inspired me to go to school so I can counsel other additcs and give them the hope she so freely gave me. North House is a great place to go if u want to remain sober for the year long contract u agree to sign. After that you are own your own. Sure they will teach you how to prepare a meal for ten other residents and clean a bathroom but sponsors are not allowed therefore you cant work the twelve steps of AA. That i the only proven method of staying sober "having had a spiritual awakening, AS THE RESULT OF THESE STEPS". The closest thing to a forth step tht is allowed at North House is a long long long life history you are required to write. You never even tell it to another human being. Its a great place if you are mandated. They wont turn you down if you have hte cash but dont expect to be taught how to remain sober. ...read more

North house and Marilyn saved my life. If it wasn't for here I would have never been able 2 stay sober and happy for the 8 years I have been sober. I cannot rave enough about north house, doin the intensive life history and learning to live again the way north house thought me through working and being a responsible accountable resident have enriched my life to great legnths. My family has their "old" Lindsey back, being at north house gave them a much needed break fromtorturing them for years on end. While working while at north house I was able to pay for my entire treatment costs. As a successful graduate I remain part of the house attending groups and stopping by to see the girls and help out when needed. I continue to seek guidance from the director who typically has a 60-80 hr work week bc she has dedicated her life to battling this fight against addiction working @ north house for 21 years. Gainesville Heart Group Doctor was wonderful during visits but, they have no method for submitting INR information if you are a coumadin user-other than fax. Fax machines frequently are busy or don't accept faxes. Doctor Communication after the visit is below average based on my experience. I got upset after several failed facsimile trys. I called to complain. The staff needs to be trained on customer service.Doctor never called me back and instead sent a certified letter to protect his own interests (med-mal suits). No phone call to let me know the letter had been sent. I found a new doctor that has a better coumadin INR protocol system. I can phone it in on a touch tone phone. This is not a good practice if you have to take high doses of coumadin as their systems don't allow for progressive approaches to coumadin management. As a young heart valve patient I thought others might want to know. Also, they did not refill my prescription twice leaving me to borrow pills from my pharmacy for coumadin. ...read more
