Welcome to Springtime in Franklin, NC TIME TO BUILD YOUR HOME

The Dogwoods are just beautiful here in Franklin, NC

Welcome to Springtime in Franklin, NC!  It's time to build your dream home.  Ready set, BUILD!

Dogwoods Blooming in Franklin, NC

One of the many reasons I love living in Franklin, NC is because of the changing of seasons.  I don't think I ever remembered seeing Dogwoods anywhere else I have lived.  They are the most beautiful tree that blooms in the Spring and really pretty in the Fall season as well and the leaves turn to a bright orange in color.  I took this picture out in the community in Franklin, NC called Cowee.  Its a rural area of Macon County and the little Tennessee River runs around the main Highway sometimes called the Bryson City Rd and also known as Hwy.28  Click here to see all the listed property for sale in the Cowee Community.

The inflorescence of Pacific Dogwood is the official flower of the province of British ColumbiaCornus florida and its inflorescence are the state tree and the state flower respectively for the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. It is also the state tree of Missouri and the state flower of North Carolina.

The wood has been used to make all manner of items that need a strong, yet flexible material, such as the rims of nets, basketry, withies, and even skewers, which makes it an ideal choice for roasting marshmallows over an open fire.

Franklin, NC - Winter here usually is not this bad

Franklin, NC - Winter here usually is not this bad

I moved here to Franklin, NC back in 1993, two weeks after the winter storm of "93".  Originally from Glens Falls NY and moved to Ft. Myers, Fl because I hated winters.  I just can not stand to be cold period.  Franklin is an area that usually does not get really bad winter wheather like we have had this year or I wouldn't live here.  :O)

My drive in Franklin,NCThis was this past Thursday in Clarks Chapel Community Franklin,NC.

I made it home way before the snow was sticking to the ground.  I learned my lesson from last Frinday when it switched so quick from rain to snow I found myself on the side of the road so scared I wanted to cry but I did crawl&slide home and made it safely.

Here is a night shot at my house.Night shot of snow - Franklin,NC 2010

It is so beautiful when it snows.  I love going out to play in it but I am done after about a day or so and want it to go away and come back another day.

And now its all melted from the rain!

The days of winter here this year sure brought back a lot of good memories of Upstate NY.  I did enjoy snow sledding, snow mobling, ice skating when I was a kid but I still hated the cold.

I love the mountains of Franklin,NC even though we have had a cold, snowy winter.

This is GOD'S Country!

Every year lots of people come through Franklin, NC on the Appalachian Trail.  Franklin, NC is one of the favorite spots to stop.  Many merchants accommodate these hikers.  I asked a friend if he would like me to help get the word out.  Ron Haven's info is below.

Hwy. 64 Franklin, NC

Friends while making your 2010 northbound hiking plans please keep in mind the sixth annual April Hiker Fool Bash. This will be held on April 2nd&3rd at The Sapphire Inn in Franklin, NC, as in the past we will be having some of the same fun and some new. Same as last year the town of Franklin,NC has some sort of entertainment planned for hikers, vender's, music, food and fun for everyone.

If you would like to make reservations early we will have 30 rooms available at The Sapphire Inn 828-524-4406 if you want lodging at the bash.  If you prefer lodging a little quieter our Budget Inn Motel is only 1,000 feet from Sapphire Inn.  Last year both motels filled long before the bash and many hikers stayed at The Franklin Inn only 3 blocks away.
