We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. The orchids as you walk in are just wonderful and unique! They do not serve frozen drinks. We were a bit disappointed by that since we were on vacation and enjoy fun drinks while traveling. The food we found to be okay but not excellent. We were not starving so we ordered a few appetizers and split them. We ordered the spicy chicken salad which was quite good. The crunchy wontons on the top tasted a bit greesy or were cooked in stale oil. If they were fresh, this salad woud have been PERFECT! The olive oil mixture they bring to dip your bread in was SUPERB! We liked this best during the whole meal. We also ordered the calmari and the lobster spring rolls. Neither was anything special. The sause served with the spring rolls, was not the sauce we liked with this dish. We were looking for the lobster in the spring roll and a bit of sweetness in the sauce would have rounded the dish off good. The sauce with the calamari tasted like Christmas cookies and was FAR too sweet to go with this dish. The calamari was soggy in places and we have certainly had better calamari. We ended our meal with a chocolate molten cake but the cake had lost it's molten. this restaurant has been on our favorites list since we went there on a friend's recommendation several years ago. The food is gourmet quality, service is great and the building is beautiful inside and out. We will be going there again next week on our visit to Longboat Key from Florida's east coast ...read more

For a rated restaurant this was the worst dining experience I have experienced since living in Florida for the past twelve years. The selection was limited, the food undercooked, the accompanying vegetables were sparce, i.e. three tiny pieces of carrot, two minute sprigs of broccoli and six very small pieces of potato. For those that had pasta the selection was limited to Angel Hair, and when an alternative was requested this was ignored. There was no choice of salad and what was served was OK but not great. The server hovered to the extent that we gained the impression that he suspected we were looking to remove the tableware. All in all an expensive and unsatisfactory experience and I would not recommend anyone dining there. Why this restaurant enjoys a five star rating is a mystery to me. ...read more
