Anna Maria Island Cities
Anna Maria Island has 3 different cities within it’s 7 miles of brilliant beaches, we’ll start from the south to the north end of the island and help you get a feel for each cities individual island feel: Bradenton Beach, FL ∼•∼ Bradenton Beach ranges from the Longboat Pass Beach to 27th Street North. The area is less than a mile wide and has duo beach access, to the west is the Gulf of Mexico and the East is the bay. Swimmers and boaters can both find paradise here, there is ample coastline, crystal waters, a big park and grilling area open for the public in Coquina Beach and a Marina to cater for your boating needs. The city has it’s own police department located on the bay in the southern end of the city and a minimal crime rate. The beach is re-nourished and funded by federal grants to keep it’s quality shores optimal for beach-goers and there is a nightly noise ordinance to keep things peaceful and quite after 10pm. The housing scene really is a mixture with mostly condo availability, especially along the beach and as you cross Gulf Dr. you begin to get more townhomes with fewer single family residences. For vacation rentals, Bradenton Beach offers the most flexibility for being able to book your home and weekly rentals are welcomed. The city has a great availability for waterfront dining with 5 great restaurants with waterfront seating, the most on Anna Maria Island! The city is vibrant and always alive with day trippers and smiling tourist, there are 3 main communing areas, Bridge Street, Coquina Beach, The Cortez Fisherman’s Village and then there is Gulf Dr. which runs the main drag of Bradenton Beach and is lined with things to do! Bridge Street is located off the round about across the street from the beach and has open bay access at the end. On both sides of the street are delicious restaurants, kitchy island gift shops, art, high end jewelers, crazy golf putting course “The Fish Hole”, late night bars, gourmet coffee shops, and designer apparel. Coquina Beach is just before the Longboat Pass and is a cool lounge area where you can lay out in the sand, let the kids play in the jungle gym or have a BBQ on any of the many public grills. The area is great for fishing or launching kayak however the tides are deathly strong so pay attention to the no swim warnings where they pertain and stay close to the life guard attendant. Coquina Beach is also where the beach farmers market is held seasonally on Sundays, you may shop fresh produce and more just steps from the ocean. Gulf Drive runs the whole strip of town and is a melting pot of local venues, you can find activity rentals, salons, local dining favorites and delicious icecream shops and so much more. The Cortez Fishing Village is located just over the Cortez bridge and is a mecca for fish lovers. Whether your boating or grocery shopping The Village is an amazing place to visit, there is lots of history, food and fishing opportunities galore! If you are searching for a friendly laid back atmosphere, a fisherman’s dream and/or an amazing town with beautiful beaches and affordable luxury then Bradenton Beach is the town for you! Call us today to schedule a tour of the area. Holmes Beach, FL ∼•∼ Holmes Beach goes from 27th Street N. to 85th Street, it is the most residential area on Anna Maria Island though there are many vacation rentals here to visit and get a feel for the area. The streets are lined with mostly modernized houses which speckle the streets with beautiful candy paint shades and stunning beach house architecture, single family homes mainly comprise the town however the Gulf has mostly condo complexes (and the only condo building over 3 stories on the Island); the canal areas like Key Royale offer Single Family Homes that are ideal for fishing and boating. The rentals can be monthly, weekly or annuals also rent well in Holmes Beach. Publix, the only major grocery store on island is located in Holmes Beach, as well as a library, auto shops, veterinarian care, banks, and the public beach-the public beach is regulated by a lifeguard and also has one of the Holmes Beach waterfront restaurants called the Beach Cafe’. There are a multitude of shopping plazas from hardware stores to beach gear; the city of Holmes Beach also boast the only Zagat Guide rated restaurant here, the beautiful waterfront dinner eatery Beach Bistro along with many other great spots for more casual dining and a late night bar or two. Also to be noted in town is access to school, dog parks, churches, police and fire departments, a boat marina and the public park which often hosts festivals, has free and newly installed exercise equipment and a skate park. For a family setting with the closest proximity to occupational businesses and daily needs like banks or the gym, explore Holmes Beach for casual living in an upscale beach town! Anna Maria, FL ∼•∼ The city of Anna Maria is from White Avenue to North Shore Blvd. A historic town that has been revived is now known for it’s quaint beach cottages, north end dining scene and the chic Pine Avenue shopping district. Usually a top pic for vacationers, Anna Maria has mostly single family homes and many expansive newly built homes with breathtaking views of the Tampa Bay are on the island’s east coast where ownership of the beach is included in most bay front real estate sales. The rentals may be as short as weekly and tourism in the area thrives year round. The city has a residential feel as you enter from Holmes Beach with minimal condo’s and most of the venues are centralized a bit further north. There is a community center about midway through the island that is popularly utilized by locals for organized events, sports and festivities. Once you hit the north end of the island you will find the town end of the island, with shops and dining leading up to Pine Avenue where there are 4 waterfront restaurants, 2 piers for eating and fishing, art galleries, a Marina and charter access to Egmont Key. The piers offer rentals and license free fishing and are also local hangouts for great views and patrons! The Sandbar and Waterfront are both renowned Anna Maria restaurants that have picturesque views and gourmet menus. Pine Avenue is the main tourist draw to Anna Maria City, with it’s upscale shopping, farm to table eateries, beach chic stores and tourist attractions like galleries, the old city jail, the Anna Maria City museum and artisan stores. Between the two piers you will find the Bay Front Park, a beautiful public park with a shore to lay out on, aqua waters, low foot traffic, pavilions, playgrounds and lots of shade by the grill area or you can soak up some Vitamin D in the AMI sunshine while laying out! If your AMI dream includes optimal luxury, the best boat access, prime dining, and an enthused community of innovative residents then the North end lifestyle of Anna Maria City is for you! ...read more
