Recently, a 210,966-square-foot Walmart was built in the heart of Lutz, which brought around 240 new jobs, providing an increase in tax revenue to support the area’s economy. It was projected that Nonprofit organizations will also benefit from the retailer’s ongoing charitable contributions and support for community projects. Lutz is a great place for small businesses who gain support from both Tampa and also surrounding Pasco and Hernando County cients. Like Land O' Lakes, Lutz is known for the lakes and preserves and peaceful surroundings. Famous persons from Lutz include Dave Batista and Marcio "Pe-De-Pano" Cruz. The movie Edward Scissorhands, filmed in Lutz for many of its scenes, filmed on Tinsmith Circle in the neighborhood of Carpenter's Run. In the credits, the town is named in the "Thank you" section.
