They will try to sucker you into using in-house finance company Chesapeake Mortgage that will bully you and treat you like a piece of dirt. The community rep will make all kinds of promises just to get a sale. If you are even considering building in one of their communities I would recommend knocking on some doors or asking the rep to provide legitimate references because the work they do is sub standard. When they were building my home they were to cheap to provide the Mexicans a port-a-potty and they used a bucket that they stored inside the home as their toilet that absolutely reeked. Just imagine seeing that.... the trim work inside is awful... they have broken pieces and miters filled up with caulk... one only knows how the actual structure hidden behind everything is done ...read more

I have had nothing but fantastic service from Gemcraft Homes. All new homes need some type of warranty service, and the Gemcraft staff has been tremendous to deal with. If you read what you signed and have the proper expectations about service, you won't be disatisfied with Gemcraft. They do exactly what they say they will do. There is no gray. If it's covered by warranty, they fix it, if it's not, they don't. That is how it should be. People need to take certain responsibility for their own maintenance. ...read more

I will NEVER buy another home from Gemcraft. We purchased the sample home in November 2007. When we took possession of the house - it was a pig sty. The garbage disposal broke in November. And, we've been without hot water for a week now. Gemcraft will not even return a phone call. We ended up hiring a plumber out of the phone book to fix it. They by far are the worst homebuilders, I can't imagine how they got a right to build, I have even taken them to the Attorney General for such a poor excuse for work.
