Water Heater Replacements - Ky Homeowner ALERT
If you've recently had a water heater replaced, the new installation needs to be inspected, as required by the Kentucky Division of Plumbing. Many homeowners may be unaware that failure to have new plumbing installations inspected could result in denial of the manufacturer warranty, or denial of insurance claims if the plumbing causes damage to the home and was improperly installed. It could also prevent the sale or loan eligibility of a home. Check out the Homeowners Information page at the Kentucky Division of Plumbing: http://dhbc.ky.gov/plb/plbhi.htm
After you or your plumber submits the permit application, you should receive a postcard from the local plumbing inspector requesting that you call the number provided to have your plumbing installation inspected.
If you are looking to buy a home, look for the green inspection sticker on the water heater that certifies it was inspected by a Kentucky State Plumbing Inspector.
